About us

At present, the continuous tightening of environmental regulations, the desire to reduce fuel consumption, production, diagnostics and maintenance cost determine transition to new generations of fuel injection systems. Intensification of fuel injection is an efficient method of reducing harmful emissions and fuel consumption in diesel engines. The typical injection pressure in diesel engines has been increased 3 to 5 times over the past 20 years. Common Rail systems are widely used and displace in-line injection systems. Injection electronic control replaces mechanical control. Carburetors and gas mixers are close to be abandoned.
Researches in the following areas are being conducted in Fuel Injection department:

  • Fuel injection math modelling and optimization of FIS (Fuel Injection Systems);
  • Experimental study of fuel injection physical processes;
  • The newest FIS types development, commissioned by industry;
  • Use of alternative fuels;
  • Design, research and diagnosis of Common Rail systems;
  • Common Rail systems providing injection rate shaping.

DIESEL-RK and INJECT software packages developed at the department allow to implement researches in fields of designing FIE and control systems relying on the engine parameters requirements (i.e. environmental standard).
